1. Who this policy covers
This policy applies to the Slizy mobile app and website (the “Service”), operated by Slizy (“Slizy”, “we”, “us”). For the purposes of Indian data protection law, Slizy is the data fiduciary for the personal data described here. By using the Service you consent to the practices described in this policy.
2. What we collect
Information you give us:
- Account details — your name, mobile number, email address, profile photo, and the OTP used to verify your number.
- Profile and verification details — gender (optional, used only if you choose to filter matches), and any identity or workplace verification you choose to complete.
- Ride details — routes, pickup and drop points, departure times, seat counts, fares, and your ride requests, acceptances, and cancellations.
- Payment handle — your UPI ID, so co-travellers can pay you their share. We never collect your bank account number, card details, or UPI PIN, and no money passes through Slizy.
- Ratings, reviews, and messages you exchange with other users through the app.
- Anything you send us when you contact support.
Information collected automatically:
- Location — with your permission, your device’s precise location while you use the app to post a ride, find matches, and coordinate pickup. We do not track your location in the background when you are not using the app unless you turn that on for an active ride.
- Device and usage data — device model, operating system, app version, language, IP address, crash logs, and how you use the app (screens viewed, features used), which we use to keep the Service working and improve it.
- Push notification tokens, so we can alert you to ride requests and matches.
3. How we use it
- To run the Service — create your account, match routes, show co-traveller profiles, ratings, and fare shares, and let users coordinate and pay each other.
- To keep the community safe — verify identities, detect fraud, fake accounts, or abuse, enforce our Terms of Service, and act on reports.
- To communicate with you — ride notifications, OTPs, service announcements, support replies, and (only if you opt in) product news.
- To improve Slizy — understand how the app is used, fix bugs, and build better matching.
- To comply with law — respond to lawful requests from authorities and meet our legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal data and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
5. Location data in detail
Location is the heart of Slizy, so we want to be explicit. We use your location to show nearby and overlapping routes, compute route match percentages and ETAs, and help a Host and Seeker find each other at pickup. Live location is shared with your matched co-traveller only during an active ride and only if you allow it. You can revoke location permission in your device settings at any time; the app will still open but matching will not work without it.
6. How long we keep it
We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. Ride history, ratings, and messages are retained while your account exists so that trust signals stay meaningful for the community. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except where we must retain it to comply with law, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, or enforce our agreements — in which case it is kept only as long as needed for that purpose. Aggregated, anonymised statistics (for example, rides shared per week in a neighbourhood) may be kept indefinitely.
7. Your rights and choices
You can:
- Access and correct your profile information from within the app.
- Delete your account from the app settings or by emailing us; this removes your profile from other users immediately.
- Withdraw consent for location, notifications, or contacts access via your device settings.
- Opt out of marketing messages using the link or setting in the message (we will still send essential service messages).
- Request a copy of your personal data, or ask us to erase it, by emailing us. We will respond within the time required by law.
- Nominate a person to exercise these rights on your behalf in the event of death or incapacity, as provided under the DPDP Act.
If you believe we have not handled your data properly, you can complain to our Grievance Officer (details below) and, if unsatisfied, to the Data Protection Board of India.
8. Security
We use encryption in transit, access controls, and industry-standard hosting to protect your data, and we limit who inside Slizy can see it. No system is perfectly secure, so please protect your own account: don’t share OTPs, and tell us right away if you think your account has been compromised. If a data breach affects you, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by law.
9. Children
Slizy is for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it.
10. Where your data is stored
Our servers and those of our service providers may be located in India or other countries. Where data is processed outside India, we ensure it is handled with protections consistent with this policy and applicable Indian law.
12. Changes to this policy
We will update this policy as Slizy evolves. If the changes are material, we will notify you in the app or by email before they take effect. The “effective” date at the top tells you when it was last revised.
13. Contact and Grievance Officer
For any privacy question, request, or complaint, email hello@slizy.app. Our Grievance Officer, appointed under the Information Technology Act and the DPDP Act, can be reached at the same address and will acknowledge your complaint within 24 hours and aim to resolve it within 15 days.
